Compare and contrast for “The City Of Ember”

Authors Note: I am writing this piece on comparing and contrasting the mayor and what Doon would want in a mayor from Doon’s point of view.

In the book “The City Of Ember” the main character is Doon and he lives in a city that is run by a corrupt mayor that in a time of struggle for the city, he is lying to the city he says that they have a plan to fix the problems but the truth is they have no plan. While there running out of everything he is stealing from the reserves, how this was discovered was Doon had came upon him in the reserves room stuffing his face with food. This essay is to compare and contrast the current mayor with the mayor Doon would want.

First there are many differences between the mayor and the mayor Doon envisions. Some of them are the mayor that Doon would want has a leadership quality that the current mayor doesn’t have, also in a time of struggle the dream mayor would not lie and just say they have a solution he would come before the townspeople and tell them some of the plans he had in store. Unlike the current mayor that just says they have a solution but really they have none. Another thing is that the dream mayor would be open to the people unlike the current that is kind of a hermit he keeps to himself unless necessary and the dream mayor would make sure everyone in the city is happy and enjoys their job, unlike the current mayor that doesn’t care about the cities feelings and only cares about himself.

Even though there are many differences between the two mayors there are some similarities. Some of them are that the current mayor and the dream mayor would be strict on crime which they are. Also both the dream mayor and the current mayor make sure everyone is employed and doing their part to make the city better.

In the book “The City of Ember” the main character Doon does not like the current mayor because of the recent findings he has uncovered about the mayor and he wants a new one that would be just like the one I stated in this essay.
