Character development for “The City of Ember”
Authors Note: I am writing this essay for Character development for the book “The City of Ember”
In the book “The City of Ember” one of the main characters name is Lina she is a big part in the story, and as the story progresses she changes in different ways. Lina changes as the book goes on.
In the first part of the book Lina is a happy adventures girl that is so excited for this day the day they choose their jobs. Lina has dreamed and pictured this day forever the day she would picked as messenger. But at first she didn’t get it but in the end of the day after a trade in jobs she would get messenger. So in this part of the book she couldn’t be happier she was at an all time high she was finally going to start her job. The excitement was rushing through her veins to start. So at the begging of the book her change is she is very happy to start her job and that means taking on new responsibilities.
Now in the middle of the book Linda changes from being excited to being worried and somewhat scared and also mad with the blackouts getting more frequent and longer. Also with the findings that the mayor the soul leader of the city is doing nothing about the blackouts. Also she gets more responsibilities because her grandmas memory is slipping and Lina now has to cook clean and be the mom of the house.
Now at the end of the book Lina is back to being more than excited she is ecstatic that her and Doon have found a way out of the city but only her Doon and her baby sister are going to search for a way out. They take the river down the path but the front part of the ride was not so nice, the current was unbarring and throwing them around Lina was feeling scared and was acting like they were going to die. But when they slowed down and forced to get out of the boat because the river ended they found a path that was raising Linas hopes that they were going to find a way out, and when they did she was very excited and happy that they found a way out.
In the story Lina has a lot of ups and downs as the story progresses but in the end she ends up very happy.
