That is the quote from the generator worker to Doon when he was in the generator room. The quote is important because the topic is the main part of the story the generator. It is breaking down; I think this quote is important because it shows that nobody has a solution for the problem at hand (The generator).

How this quote is important is because when Doon got a view of the generator and asked a worker how it works he replied, “Who knows? Our job is to keep from breaking down”. Also I think that it is a big part in the story because the problem at hand is a matter of life or death, but not even the people that have been working on it there entire life don’t even know the first thing on how to fix it. Even Doon that had a plan to fix it was having second thoughts because what the worker had told him.

The quote is important because it is a huge part in the story, it shows that the city is doomed because trying to fix the generator is a lost cause everyone doesn’t have a clue on how to even approach the massive generator, and the quote about sums it up.
